Ok, here is our story. I have been guessing that you would be born on the 19th. Ok, so I was wrong since it is now the 20th, but that is beside the point for this story. :)
Friday the 19th was kind of a crazy weather day. We were having flash floods around Pittsburgh. The floods were so quick and ferocious that three people lost their lives, and many others turned up missing. A mission that I was called out for but couldn't go, well, because you are coming. ;) The water had rose over the roofs of cars in these flooded areas; many of the cars were swept away. Despite the swift currents, some people tried to swim for it.
On the way to the hospital, the traffic was thick and congested everywhere. This was due to those floods and an even more natural disaster, Britney Spears. I am not sure what is worst, to be trapped in a flooding car, or trapped in a Britney Spears concert. Braving the prospects of being sucked into a auditorium of screaming teenage girls and ear bleeding music, we pushed on.
Your mom became increasingly nervous as her contractions became stronger and more frequent. I was my usual cool self. lol Arriving at the hospital we checked in and your mom received a battery of test. The fear/concern was a complication called, preeclampsia. However the test all came back negative and we were sent home. But this didn't set well for either of us. Your mom was clearly progressing and I thought for sure that I may have to deliver a baby.
I have delivered a calf once, and that was interesting and a neat experience, but to be honest, I really didn't want to do that again. What is funny is that I would have been a lot more relaxed if Brooke was going to be there. She had seen several child births during her shadowing at Washington Hospital. Even though she is only 17 at the time of this writing, She is a very sharp kid and could have probably pulled this off. I also had Lucy to fall back on. Although she doesn't have a car this weekend because she if visiting from New Mexico. Lucy has delivered babies in her residency. Well, when she was a resident.
Anyways, I am getting way off topic. Becuase we were concerned we asked the doctor ro make one more assement. She concluded that your mom was in fact in labor and that you will be coming soon... Yikes!
So here we are. Your mom is progressing very very well and it looks like that we'll meet in the next few hours.
Woo hoo, a new ice climbing buddy!
