Logan 11 days old and very vain!

I don't know why I bother to look so good...

Umh, excuse me, waitress, I am hungry again.

Umh, miss, I don't think you heard me, I am really hungry over here. Could you please take my order?

Oh, it's you again. Lady, you are really creeping me out. Can't you just stalk me on Facebook like everyone else does?

Ok, I am hungry again. Do you see this mouth, this is my sign for, "FEED ME!"

I love watching clouds, ho humm.

Really? You don't say, please go on.

 I am soooo bored.  :(

My new buddy, he if way softer than the food lady.

You gotta problem? Cause, there's two of us, I am just saying!

He chugged a bottle then did what?

Popped in his dipper a 3rd time in a row? haha I gotta remember that one!

I hope their camera batteries don't run out because I am just too good looking to not keep snapping!

Milestone post 1: Logan's benchmarks for 1 month.

What are some of the developmental milestones my child should reach by one month of age?

In the very beginning, it may seem that your baby does nothing but eat, sleep, cry, and fill his diapers. By the end of the first month, he’ll be much more alert and responsive. Gradually he’ll begin moving his body more smoothly and with much greater coordination—especially in getting his hand to his mouth. You’ll realize that he listens when you speak, watches you as you hold him, and occasionally moves his own body to respond to you or attract your attention.
Here are some other milestones to look for.

Movement Milestones

  • Makes jerky, quivering arm thrusts
  • Brings hands within range of eyes and mouth
  • Moves head from side to side while lying on stomach
  • Head flops backward if unsupported
  • Keeps hands in tight fists
  • Strong reflex movements

Visual and Hearing Milestones

  • Focuses 8 to 12 inches (20.3 to 30.4 cm) away
  • Eyes wander and occasionally cross
  • Prefers black-and-white or high-contrast patterns
  • Prefers the human face to all other patterns
  • Hearing is fully mature
  • Recognizes some sounds
  • May turn toward familiar sounds and voices

Smell and Touch Milestones

  • Prefers sweet smells
  • Avoids bitter or acidic smells
  • Recognizes the scent of his own mother’s breastmilk
  • Prefers soft to coarse sensations
  • Dislikes rough or abrupt handling

Developmental Health Watch

If, during the second, third, or fourth weeks of your baby’s life, she shows any of the following signs of developmental delay, notify your pediatrician.
  • Sucks poorly and feeds slowly
  • Doesn’t blink when shown a bright light
  • Doesn’t focus and follow a nearby object moving side to side
  • Rarely moves arms and legs; seems stiff
  • Seems excessively loose in the limbs, or floppy
  • Lower jaw trembles constantly, even when not crying or excited
  • Doesn’t respond to loud sounds

You Looking at Me? I said, "Are you looking at me?"

Who are you?

Who am I? Who are you?

What are you?

What are you?

Where is your fur?

Why do you have fur?

Ok, first couple hours of life

1:30 pm Dateline, "Baby Brokers" played through the speakers the TV's speakers. Kathy began giving birth. By 1:38 we could see his brown curly hair. By 2:06, you were here.

My first words to you were, "Hi Logan, Really sorry for the economic crisis, but we are counting on you to fix it." :)

You don't seem amused with our political system. To be honest, none of us are. :)

The doctor and nurses laughed and made jokes of their own.

I cut you umbilical cord. No big deal, but I thought you should know. umh, not sure why, I don't think it could go on your resume or anything.

Your Pap Hansel looks very happy!

Uncle Dave wondering if you make a better Center or winger. He decided on a Center. I like that!

Logan, I am your father!  :)

Of course! Being born in Pittsburgh, there are no other choices! Go Stillers!

You look like you should be floating down the Nile in this picture. Although, it is a good one.

8-19-11 When your mom went into labor

Ok, here is our story. I have been guessing that you would be born on the 19th. Ok, so I was wrong since it is now the 20th, but that is beside the point for this story. :)

Friday the 19th was kind of a crazy weather day. We were having flash floods around Pittsburgh. The floods were so quick and ferocious that three people lost their lives, and many others turned up missing. A mission that I was called out for but couldn't go, well, because you are coming. ;)  The water had rose over the roofs of cars in these flooded areas; many of the cars were swept away. Despite the swift currents, some people tried to swim for it.

On the way to the hospital, the traffic was thick and congested everywhere. This was due to those floods and an even more natural disaster, Britney Spears. I am not sure what is worst, to be trapped in a flooding car, or trapped in a Britney Spears concert. Braving the prospects of being sucked into a auditorium of screaming teenage girls and ear bleeding music, we pushed on.

Your mom became increasingly nervous as her contractions became stronger and more frequent. I was my usual cool self. lol Arriving at the hospital we checked in and your mom received a battery of test. The fear/concern was a complication called, preeclampsia. However the test all came back negative and we were sent home. But this didn't set well for either of us. Your mom was clearly progressing and I thought for sure that I may have to deliver a baby.

I have delivered a calf once, and that was interesting and a neat experience, but to be honest, I really didn't want to do that again. What is funny is that I would have been a lot more relaxed if Brooke was going to be there. She had seen several child births during her shadowing at Washington Hospital. Even though she is only 17 at the time of this writing, She is a very sharp kid and could have probably pulled this off. I also had Lucy to fall back on. Although she doesn't have a car this weekend because she if visiting from New Mexico. Lucy has delivered babies in her residency. Well, when she was a resident.

Anyways, I am getting way off topic. Becuase we were concerned we asked the doctor ro make one more assement. She concluded that your mom was in fact in labor and that you will be coming soon...  Yikes!

So here we are. Your mom is progressing very very well and it looks like that we'll meet in the next few hours.

Woo hoo, a new ice climbing buddy!

Notes from Gramps

Well, how considerate is Kathy - waiting til I get back in town Friday night! I would have bet money that she would need the Ptosin drip, and she did. Magee is really nice - very secure and comfy...of course there were no rooms available until 5am. But now all is OK, just waiting for Logan!!

ho hum... Where are you boy?

Well, Kathy's blood pressure was measured to be high today. Not sure what "high" means since K didn't ask.  :)
My money is still on Friday the 19th. That gives me one more day to work on my projects before my entire life falls apart in shambles.  LOL  Just kidding Logan. When ever, if ever, you read this.  ;)  But I know that you know my sense of humor by now. :)

Your mom hasn't posted yet because she hasn't figured out how to use a blog yet.  :-/   lol

8-16-11 yikes

Ok, I thought it would be a good time to write up a little about what I am thinking and the state of our lives.

Logan is due in 2 days, roughly. The 19th actually, but I am counting ahead just a little. I have a feeling it will be on Friday. My guess. Kind of goofy, weird and cool if it were.

The room is ready, well, I haven't put the big plants in there yet. I'll do that, umh, maybe tomorrow....  At least I am good with watering the garden. If Logan is anything like a tomato plant, he'll be in good shape. :)
